Woolloomooloo,
Dear Peter
[Finished programme at 5 25 pm
yesterday]
I heard you yesterday on ABC Radio 774 with
Lindy Burns discussing at length selected aspects of Labor's newly released
business plan re the NBN white elephant. LINDY ADDED GRAVITAS TO YOUR OPINION BY
SUGGESTING THAT ''ABBOT HAS NOT GOT A LEG TO STAND ON'' you agreed!
I concentrate essentially on merely what you
deemed to be important in your on - air fulminations on Stephen Conroy's latest
dissembling re the future -
proof* $43
/ 39 Billion NBN - merely latest of Labor's disasters of probably 45 asinine
projects / AKA running the country over the last 3 years or so.

Commentary of how I arrived at this 45 series of
waste at best and asinity at worse - is out of the domain of this epistle. Not
too many would debate numbers
with me. I simply refuse to do so; I took an
underestimated guess on how many disasters Whitlam managed and doubled it. Very
reasonable modus, methinks.

So: I refer to your idea that ''the NBN will
remain viable for 30 years''
This of course means up to 40 years - but why
quible over a decade - seeing that it will take 10 years to roll out this
elephantine waste of money.
Note further how I really think you are
determined to eke out for yourself a place in the hallowed place of world's worst predictions of all
time
If you make it for another 40 years - you will
have to send me a message to the nether world: I am 63 years
old - and at best will surely be ga ga by the year
2050.
For now - kindly tell me as well as you
can manage - as below. Could you please find it in your day in 2050 to send me a
message: 'YOU WERE RIGHT / I WAS RIGHT'?
-
If you are the expert in matters technology- as implied by your nom de business - and via your commentary on air - how do you so confidently predict 40 years! How dare you do this - when you must know there is a commonly accepted idea that the sum of human knowledge doubles every 18 months.
-
Now this may not be entirely correct - may even be an urban myth - but surely not even you would deny that even as I type these words - with every keystroke - it is becoming more likely that broadband / NBN / whatever is / going to be obviated by WIRELESS technology. It seems inellegant for you to espouse the idea that in 40 years time the NBN will remain viable - when such powerful case can be mounted NOW!! Or are you suggesting that mega - revolutionizing of EVERYTHING will happen to everythig but the NBN??! Get real!
-
Never mind the above - which blows your argument into the either. How about your venture into matters medical? YOU SAID: that doctors will be able to monitor patients via the internet. You mentioned XRAY assesment done via NBN over the net.'' This is simply not your expertise, Peter.
-
Let us us assume that you were refering to a patient in a country town. This person goes into a main centre - say Townville or Brisbane - gets an Xray done then goes home to attack the NBN to send the image to his doctor - say in Townsville. [OOPS - why would he do that he was just there!? ] So he has a medico in Perth? OK - let us stay with Brisbane. Otherwise you may think I am mocking you.
-
You may care to note that main centre hospitals do have high speed broadband - or will have it au natural; not that you need it to analyze Xrays - for many reasons outside your ken. Some listed above - merely in the realm of simple logistics. Too much for here....
-
So; this is flummery, sir - used by ignorant politicians and their acolytes with political dogma trying to justify bad policy.
-
Shall I leave this aspect of your commentary? I really do not want to go into a complete pre emptive autopsy of Conroy's raison d'etre. No time. It will be resurrected WELL - BEFORE 2050!
-
Let us go to your tangent of how the world of Education will be revolutionized by littlies being able to use the NBN to such tremendous advantage. Do you really think that major schools do not automatically are obviated? No time to go into this either; but your EDUCATION REVOLUTION - another of Julia's delusions were already demonstrated in the schools' hall debacle. It is a manifest farce to even think of wasting time on this.
-
It does not leave much else, Peter. Just this: frequently one hears about the paucity of comparative services in country towns. this is frequently espoused by politicians who seek to garner support from aggrarian socialists and a disparate range ogf political ignoramasses as a justification for the NBN being rolled out to supplement Timbucktoo's lifestyle!
-
So let us see if you understand: country folk enjoy their lifestyle, mega - cheap lifestyle and tiny property prices - but they demand a Chadstone - style shopping centre, major hospitals and - oh yes - THE NBN as well!! You get it? A contradiction - in terms - innately unfair, absurd and worse; it is the sort of logical thing socialists immolate without ever understanding it. Vale economic Irrationalism: do not get me started..
