ALP's attitude towards Israel under the spotlight
Simon Crean's bid to reassure the Jewish community of Labor's support has failed to end concerns about the Opposition's attitude to Israel. In a speech last night, Mr Crean pledged the ALP's unequivocal and unshakeable commitment to the Israeli state. But Jewish groups remain worried about what they perceive as anti-Israel sentiment on the backbench and the outspoken MPs have refused to be silenced.
