Dear Ms Middap, Mr Mitchell, Mr Murdoch,
I refer to your publication of a set of three letters in the current edition of your magazine June 1 – 2.
It refers to the item two weeks earlier – The Shunned.
Note that the letter from Rabbi Freilich is simply pathetic: he admits to essentially being tired and emotional when he thoughtlessly gave his deliberately false derivation of matters material to the writer of The Shunned.
Either that or he is plain stupid for a number of reasons. I suppose the former does not ameliorate the latter.
    1.  He admits ‘’that his expression was not as clear and precise as it should be.’’ In other words he essentially gave false information – knowing it to be false information. His language confirms it.
    2.  And the above is reasonable comment: he must have known the official policy of the Rabbinate – it has been promulgated too frequently for any further discussion.  It has been all – over the media – and the Jewish media – for all to see! Multiple media releases – I will not bother to prove this. It is irrefutable.
    3.  See AJN herein link.
    4.  Freilich’s comments are disingenuous tripe – and what makes it worse he knew it to be so.
    5.  The AJN link  - an article published on 24/5 refers  an incipient apology from the people responsible. It states that Kate Legge will apologize on the Letters pages. SHE DID NOT. What we got was a mealy – mouthed tripe from Freilich – an insult to anyone who writes great parodies! It indeed is too easy to send up the man Yes Minister style! Oh – I can do even better than that: not for now.
    6.  Freilich was forced to resign from The Organization Of Rabbis in 2012. Look at the strained thanks Freilich got as a good - by present; that too could be a great parody!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_Games_(Yes_Minister) I refer to Freilich retiring to the ‘backbenches of WA.......
Now understand that all the above would be bad enough if it was not for the NAZI COROLLARY that the pathetic writer and Wachs made in the original article! And of course you refused to publish any apology for that alone!
A mere modern – day obscenity that both Wachs and Legge deliberately constructed once and twice respectively - to make sure there was no failure in understanding what they had a go at it!
Plainly – THAT THE SCHOOL HE GREW UP IN IS NOW POPULATED BY NAZIS! ALONG NAZI LINES!
    WHY NO APOLOGY FOR THIS?
JUST HOW MANY TIMES CAN THE AUSTRALIAN DEPICT JEWS OUTRAGEOUSLY? DO YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER YOUR JOURNALISTS?
Now I want what I wrote in December to be appended to this email: http://socialistdystopia.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/waks-what-did-he-not-know-and-when-did.html
THAT SHOULD TELL THE READER THAT I EMPATHISE WITH  MANNY WACHS – AND HE SHOULD BEHAVE HIMSELF WITH THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF STYLE THAT BEFITTED THE HIGH OFFICES HE USED TO HOLD!
    SEE BELOW LINKS:
I ALSO WANT NOTED THAT THE DEFAULT POSITION OF ORGANIZATIONS WHEN CONFRONTED WITH ACCUSATIONS IS WHAT THE SA STATE GOVERNMENT DID!
    WHAT THE BBC DID!
WHAT SCOUT – MASTERS USED TO DO!
WHAT THE CHURCHES DID – AND PATHETICALLY STILL KEEP DOING!
    NONE OF IT IS EXCUSABLE!
    NO IFS – OR BUTS.
What the Church has tried to cover up over the past century and more dwarfs everything else by several hundred thousand per cent: none of it excuses anything any other entity – secular like the BBC – and SA Government – tried to do. The newspapers and disparate journals are full of it!
Let all who have made errors gross and otherwise not attempt to cover up matters relating to precious children.

    Top rabbi resigns

THE president of the Organisation of Rabbis of Australasia (ORA) has stepped down from the role after three-and-a-half years, ruing the disrespectful and antagonistic behaviour of some of his colleagues and criticising them for their apathy and lack of courtesy.
In a letter sent to members last Friday, Rabbi Dovid Freilich said he had already held the role at the Orthodox roof body for far longer than the two years he had intended when taking up the post in 2008, and now wanted to focus on his community in Perth.
“I accepted the position only because the Australian rabbinate had given so much to me and I appreciated the opportunity to give some service back to them in return.”
However, the letter also referred to  the sometimes fraught relationship between rabbis. “Simply because colleagues may not agree with each others’ views, this should not chas v’sholom lead to open antagonism, threats and blackmail. What type of example are we showing the ba’alei batim [laymen/congregants] from whom we expect respect, if we show no respect for each other?”
Elaborating on his comments in an interview with The AJN this week, Rabbi Freilich said he had had personal experience of such hostility on certain occasions when he had taken it upon himself to represent the rabbinate.
“I was made to feel uncomfortable over statements that I felt were necessary to come out with,” he said, adding he now felt he was “persona non grata” among some of his colleagues, and that arguments during “turbulent times” had left him feeling “despondent”.
The letter also saw Rabbi Freilich lament the lack of response from members of the rabbinate when he had asked for suggestions in pre-yom tov newsletters. Stating he “rarely had the courtesy of a reply”, he said, “This was both disheartening, but also illustrated great apathy.”
But it wasn’t all negative. Rabbi Freilich said that during his presidency he hoped he had raised the profile of ORA.
And announcing his successor, he described Rabbi Moshe Gutnick as “very capable and level-headed”, expressing no doubt “he would do an outstanding job”.
Paying tribute to his predecessor, Rabbi Gutnick said, “He is a respected senior colleague who I will continue to turn to for counsel and advice.”
Looking ahead to his own term in office, Rabbi Gutnick added, “We are challenged both from within and without by the dual threat of radical secularism on the one hand and
    radical fundamentalism on the other.
Rabbi Gutnick went on to state his intention “to ensure that the authentic and at the same time tolerant voice of Judaism is heard loud and clear”.
“To that end, among other initiatives, I will be seeking to strengthen the voice of the rabbinate as well as strengthen our ties with the lay leadership of the community, especially with bodies such as the Executive Council of Australian Jewry.
“Our community must not only be united, it must be seen to be united, and in a united voice represent Judaism,” said Rabbi Gutnick.
Rabbinical Council of Victoria president Rabbi Yaakov Glasman also praised Rabbi Freilich as “an excellent ambassador for Australian Jewry”, adding, “He has never shied away from speaking out about the religious and ethical issues affecting our community and more importantly, he has done so with the giant heart that has so characterised him within his own community in Perth.”
Rabbi Yosef Feldman, president of the Rabbinic Council of New South Wales, was unavailable for comment.

Error correction: belatedly Wachs has sent a letter of regret re the bashing of Rabbi Tesner in the Synagogue.
The bashing act remains – only partly vitiated by the apology which was obviously forced on Wachs

The Shunned is a Nazi - derivated obscenity!
How uncute that the extreme leftist journalist Kate Legge has dared to venture into allowing herself to be drawn by Wachs into  the modern – day sadly oft – abused obscene Nazi corollary in definining his community!
    1. What excuse is there in Wachs pathetic gratuituituos deference  to his grandfather’s Nazi – embossed Swastika engineering certificate and denoting it as courage in comparison with the Yeshivah school? ‘’... He nods at the portrait of his father and the consequences of allowing evil to thrive.’’
    2. As if this was not bad enough  the legless one [OK  - Legge!] then joins in: ‘’ the Yeshivah Centre looms across the street and I almost expect security to arrest Zephaniah for refusing to shut up. But the shunning works in subtler ways. Despite the warmth of the sun, I feel a shiver up my spine.
Wachs has suffered horribly in his youth – no excuses extant. All of this happened well before Rabbi Telsner was appointed Dayan /  Judge of Yeshivah Centre.
Wachs brother attacked Rabbi Telsner with a horrific blow to the face sending his spectacles flying and knocking him over! All the Rabbi did was greet him in the appropriate manner on a Jewish Holyday in the Synagogue. Yes Manny Sachs: you are you brother’s keeper – you should unreservedly apologise and the brother should consider himself lucky that no charges are being prfered to the police.
There is no excuse for any cover – up that was done in earlier times – but MW badly over – bakes the scone in daring making the comparison with the various Churches.
Pathetically, even the  BBC, the the South Australian Government which pathetically remains  guilty of  having no obligation to report abuse of children to the authorities. Links supplied – some of which relate to even the dog ate my breakfast excuse!    Accused headmaster turned me into paedophile... Ma...
There are many inate errors in the Shunned article – and unless the editor allows space I cannot discuss it at all.
There will be many who know that the so – called refusal to attend a New York Rabbi is a classic distortion: have I got another 300 words? Wachs had probably 2000 words that were plainly an attempt to get greater compensation if he merely stuck to the facts!
And as for Legge: this may send a shiver up her spine and encourage her to behave professionally in future!
Editor: advise if I have another 300 words?

‘’Efforts to broker peace through internal Jewish channels got him nowhere. In March, Yeshivah's rabbinical leaders refused an invitation from a New York rabbi to moderate the dispute in a Jewish court so Zephaniah took the unprecedented step of lodging a complaint with the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission. Both parties have been summonsed to a meeting scheduled for next week.’’
‘’....On the wall of the Waks' living room hangs a photo of Zephaniah's father Leo, a dashing character in a fedora, without any of the sartorial garb favoured by contemporary orthodox men. "That guy there," he says of his father, "was an engineering student in Berlin when Hitler came to power. His degree has a swastika on it. He knew what was going on but he refused to buckle as he watched the salute rising higher and higher, and a little of his determination sits inside me. I'm not moving out of here until I want to move."
The pressure mounts. "It's very unpleasant. You can't believe this is 2013 in Australia. You can't believe it," he says. I ask, what has hurt him most? Not the sudden withdrawal of the old friend he once accompanied to study sessions. "He's always been a weakling.I'm not surprised he buckled to pressure. The thing that bothers me most about this is seeing good people doing nothing." He nods at the portrait of his father and the consequences of allowing evil to thrive.
When he walks me outside to my car, the Yeshivah Centre looms across the street and I almost expect security to arrest Zephaniah for refusing to shut up. But the shunning works in subtler ways. Despite the warmth of the sun, I feel a shiver up my spine.’’
