ABC apologises for phrasing used in reporting asylum seekers' claims

Mark Scott has to resign if for no other reason but for his claim PM 3/2/14 insisting that the video ''evidence'' vindicated them. This is /was  plainly not true - and merely common sense will vitiate these claims.

It gets worse: the next day PM 4/2 Scott gave a mealy - mouthed, generalized, waffled rare ABC apology. Nowhere is any admission that the video was plainly no evidence per se!

If Scott thought it reasonable to keep his job re his former claims - he must resign because he failed again in the latter. Indeed – made it worse.

And understand there are many other issues. Complete basic analysis will further lacerate Scott and his attempts at supporting the untenable. Vindicating the asinine. Sustaining the proletariat view! Too many items to allow Scott to remain.

Bring back Jonathan Shier

By the way: why has the attack on Israel on PM [3/2 from memory] been deleted from ABC archives?
Indeed - Much of the recent  archives have been deleted!

We've continued to pursue it. We've never said that we know the answer to it. We've said that they are serious allegations. What takes place under the Australian flag on the high seas is clearly a matter of public importance. And it clearly has been important for us to continue to investigate this story.

And part of the, my frustration I must say, is that there are some out there in other media outlets who seem to be suggesting by the fact that the ABC has raised these very important allegations and bought the evidence that some people have presented to us and put that in the public domain, we are somehow saying that's the end of the story. We've been saying it's the beginning of the story.

ABC apologises for phrasing used in reporting asylum seekers' claims

Tonight ABC managing director, Mark Scott, and head of ABC News and Current Affairs, Kate Torney, issued a statement over the broadcaster's use of language relating to asylum seekers' claims against the Australian Navy. The statement concedes wording needed to be more precise and expresses regret if the reporting was misleading.
