Having enjoyed holidays with friends - it occurs to me that the girl - people are smarter if only because they take the risk of melanoma / sun danger seriously.
Too many of my male friends have disparate excuses for never using sunscreen!
- ''I don't care'' - he whose family member had a melanoma excised.
- If something was going to happen - it would have happened already.
- God will help me / guard me.
- And many more dangerous excuses for being macho / lazy / whatever!
It is incumbent on the ladies to encourage the men in their lives to look after themselves; otherwise the gap in male / female lifespans will be larger than need be.
I note the following 'joke' - which is serious business!

There was a guy drowing in the ocean. He prayed to God to save him.
A few minutes later a boat came and offered to pick him up and take him to shore. The drowning man refuesed and the boat left.
Another boat came and offered to save the man and he said no, and the boat left.
Finally a third boat came and said I can help you. Once again the drowing man said no.
When he died he said to God: I trusted you. Why didn't you save me??
